The Conga is a 70cm high single skin drum, barrel-shaped and open at the bottom. This Conga is usually played with the hands. The name of these conga drums also derives the name of the dance form conga: A fast-paced Afro-Cuban dance and a two-part time signature with syncopated rhythm.

Arturo Marquez, meanwhile, has a patent on this type of dance, and both his dance zones and conga are not only particularly popular in Latin America, but they have gained international fame through the performances of the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra conducted by conductor Gustavo Dudamel.
