Blu is a tame Macaw parrot who has never learned to fly. He enjoys a comfortable life and thinks he is the last of his kind, but Jewel lives in the exotic Rio, a female of his kind.

Together with his owner Linda he goes to the other side of the world to meet Jewel. In Rio, Blu has the greatest adventure of his life.

The wonderful soundtrack by John Powell, also known from Ice Age and How to train your Dragon, contains a lot of latin, rumba and samba, but also great classic film music.
